Ganadores de la Sexta Edición del Certamen de Poesía Ramiro Lagos.
1er premio: "Tentación de una granada", de Éowyn Bailey, College of the Holy Cross, MA.
2do premio: "Una semilla", de Selene Santiago-López, UNCG, NC.
The Department of World Languages at Worcester State University, along with the College of the Holy Cross, Trinity College, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and University of Connecticut are pleased to announce the sixth annual Ramiro Lagos Poetry Prize.
The award aims to encourage, support, promote, and publicize the creation of high-quality poetic works by students of the partner universities. Poems in Spanish that are original, unpublished, and whose theme revolves around the poetry of Ramiro Lagos may participate.
How to enter

Poems must not exceed 5 pages, and be double spaced with a 12-point font

Submission deadline: April, 5th, 2024
An award ceremony will be held at Worcester State University on April 18th, 2024 at 2:30 p.m.
Finalists must be present, either in person or virtually, to receive their prize.
ABOUT RAMIRO LAGOS CASTRO (1922-2023)
Ramiro Lagos was a renowned Colombian poet and scholar, author of 27 books of poetry and essays as well as four anthologies of poetry from Latin America and Spain. In addition, he served as a professor in the field of poetry for 28 years at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) and spent 13 years teaching and directing UNCG's Summer Program in Spain following retirement. He is most known for the following poetic works:
